OPWDD has created a Language Access Plan in an effort to provide full access to agency supports and services for people with limited English proficiency (LEP)

In Executive Order No. 26, Governor Cuomo said “two and one-half million New Yorkers have limited-English proficiency, which means they do not speak English as their primary language and have limited ability to read, speak, write or understand English, thereby presenting potential barriers to accessing important government programs or services.”

The OPWDD Language Access Plan establishes a system to provide people with limited English proficiency access to agency programs and activities, including supports and services.

Translations of the Language Access web pages will be available soon.
