April 2012 Public Briefings:
Throughout April 2012 OPWDD held a series of public briefings on the People First Waiver. These briefings were open to the public. They provided an update on OPWDD’s development of the waiver and an opportunity to ask questions. Below, the PowerPoint presentation is available, as well as a video of the briefing presentation.
May/June 2011 Public Forums:
It is essential that individuals with developmental disabilities and their families help shape the People First Waiver and its system reforms. In May and June 2011, OPWDD held formal public forums in New York City, Schenectady, and Rochester, and at an additional seven locations via video conference. For people who were unable to participate in one of these sessions, we offered an online opportunity to address the same four questions that formed the basis of testimony at the forums. More than 500 people participated in one of these options during a four week period. The input received will directly inform the People First Waiver Steering Committee and design teams as they work to develop recommendations for service system improvements. This page provides information related to these public forums and the ideas and comments they generated.
